After the general overview of the 330km Tor des Geants race i’m going to try to finish in September, i’ll post detailed maps of the different sections.
Sections are defined as parts of the course between two life bases. Remember the race is non stop, so you have to decide where and when and for how long to stop to eat, sleep, shower, have a beer … whatever takes your fancy :o)
The race has to be run in 6 days and there are 7 sections of around 50km. So the simple maths of 1 section a day + a good nights sleep is a bit erroneous :o)
So section1: Courmayeur to Valgrisenche : 48.6km and 3700mD+
This is a very nice section, everyone is fresh, you meet a lot of people and a lot of supporters are out. 3 Big climbs, and if you’re not quick the last one will be in the dark. It’s all about conservation of energy … and not doing anything stupid! It actually feels relatively easy and the nerves slowly ebb away during the day.
